NVC LEVEL III (BASIC)
This programme is designed to train individuals of little or no knowledge of automobile maintenance to become a competent automobile technician. It comes in three (3) stages with provision to exit at any stage and still acquire the needed competence to start up as a technician.
All trainees will be exposed to general automotive courses which will empower them with the knowledge required to fit in to any automobile workshop. Each trainee will in addition to the acquired general knowledge of automobile maintenance, have a privilege of choosing an area of specialty out of the seven (7) areas of specialties available on this programme.
In-depth training on the chosen area of specialty and real live assignment in a workshop will be delivered to the trainee. This will avail the trainee the opportunity of starting up as a specialist in the chosen specialty as soon as he completes a level.It does implies that anyone who has completed the three levels will have become trained in at least three (3) specialties. Below is the list of available areas of specialization.
1. Computerized Wheel Balancing; Vulcanizing, and Wheel Alignment.
2. Air-conditioning System and Accessories Servicing.
3. Computerized Auto-Diagnosis.
4. Hybrid Car Maintenance and Servicing.
5. Auto-Electrical Diagnosis and Repair.
6. Drivetrain and Chassis Maintenance and Services.
7. Internal Combustion Engine Maintenance and Services.
Duration: Full-time: Five (5) months
Part-time: Seven (7) months
Entry Requirement: The programme is opened to anyone of any literacy level but a minimum of Junior Secondary School Certificate (JSSCE) is required as a test of comprehension ability.
Certification: National Vocational Certificate III (Basic) in Automotive Mechatronics Technology.
